From Samangraya to the Industrial World: Arman’s Journey to Achieve His Dreams Through the PIPB Scholarship

As a child, Arman Ramadan often gazed at the towering industrial area in Cilegon. The processing towers, vast pipeline networks, and constant industrial activities felt so close, yet somehow out of reach. Growing up in Citangkil Village, he could only imagine what it would be like to become part of that world. Today, that dream is slowly becoming a reality.

Wearing his green work uniform during his internship at PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), Arman now stands in the middle of the industrial environment he once admired from afar. However, the journey that brought him here was far from easy.

Born into a modest family, Arman went through a period of uncertainty after graduating from SMKN 2 Cilegon. Financial limitations made him hesitant to continue his education at university. At the same time, entering the workforce immediately was also challenging due to his lack of experience.

“After graduating from vocational high school, I was confused about what steps I should take to build my career,” Arman recalled.

Amid that uncertainty, Arman learned about the PIPB bonded scholarship program, supported through a strategic partnership with Chandra Asri Group. This opportunity became a turning point, giving him renewed hope to pursue his education without adding a financial burden on his parents.

For Arman, the scholarship was more than just educational assistance. It became a bridge that transformed uncertainty into opportunity and opened the path toward a better future.

At the same time, his family was facing difficult circumstances as his parents fell seriously ill and required medical treatment. The support provided by Chandra Asri Group, including assistance in coordinating medical care, further strengthened Arman’s positive view of the company’s commitment to the surrounding community.

“That was when I truly felt how real the company’s care and respect for the community were for our family,” he said.

The moment he was declared a scholarship recipient remains one of the most unforgettable experiences in his life. Among thousands of applicants, Arman never expected to be selected.

“When I found out that I had been awarded the PIPB scholarship, I felt incredibly happy. I never imagined I would be selected from among thousands of applicants,” he said.

His family shared the same joy. Arman became the first person in his family to receive a scholarship to pursue higher education. For him, this opportunity was not just about academics—it also represented new hope for his family’s future.

“My biggest motivation is my desire to improve my family’s economic condition. I have two younger siblings who are still in school, and I want to support them until they can attend university,” he explained.

Growing up near the industrial area in Citangkil, Arman had been familiar with the petrochemical industry since childhood through the stories and experiences of people around him. Over time, that familiarity nurtured his dream of contributing directly to an industry that plays a significant role in Cilegon’s development.

“Since I was young, I have known about the petrochemical industry from the people around me, and that inspired me to dream of contributing to this industry,” he said.

Arman did not waste the opportunity he was given. During his studies through the PIPB program, he continuously worked to improve both his academic and non-academic skills. He maintained a GPA of 3.6, achieved recognition in a national essay competition representing PIPB, and actively participated in various organizational activities that helped develop his communication and leadership skills.

Today, Arman feels increasingly optimistic about his future.

“I’m very optimistic because I’ve made the most of this PIPB scholarship opportunity,” he said.

Through his internship at Chandra Asri Group, Arman is now closer than ever to the dreams he has built for years. Looking ahead, he hopes to become part of the petrochemical industry and contribute by prioritizing safety, professionalism, and responsibility in his work.

Yet for Arman, success is not the finish line. He hopes to share his experiences and lessons with the surrounding community so that more local young people will dare to dream and believe in their own abilities.

“I also want to share my experiences with the community to motivate others and show them that local people also have the opportunity to join Chandra Asri Group,” Arman concluded.
